Universally, the nest is a symbol of safety, a symbol of home, and a symbol of protection of the young and innocent.
Each nest that is built is made with love and intention and is composed of organic materials such as twigs, grasses, vines, moss, and sticks. One day is spent gathering and collecting materials from the surrounding area. Then, typically, another day building the nest. Sometimes they are made by me or they are made in community as a way of coming together in healing.
The Nests that are built are created for private events, people’s yards, workshops, public events, or used for a memorial. They either stay on-site or find a good home such as a school or garden.
Since they are made like a bird’s nest, they are a fragile, precious piece of art and over time go back into the earth.
